highstreet gem #4: metallic horn earrings

Surprisingly, I've found some reasonably priced earrings that I actually like. I'm not much of an earring girl, give me a necklace any day, but these really stood out to me. Admittedly, they do remind me a bit of plug stretchers but hey the 'grungey' vibe is back in again right? I wish these were made in sterling sliver though, I'm really particular about having all my jewellery sliver. But I do think these earrings are pretty cute for a cheap jewellery fix.

trend watch: iridescent bags

Clockwise L to R: Hologram Envelope Clutch - Somewhere Nowhere at Bengt £81, Clutch - H&M £14.99, Mirror Hologram Boxy Bag - Pixie Market $78, Square Pouch - & Other Stories £12.

The whole space-age, metallic trend was all over S/S 2013 collections. Burberry Prorsum offered head-to-toe reflective outfits in numerous block colours, while Louise Grey boldly implemented outlandish mirrored earrings into her collection. More on this in this post.

Proenza Schouler and Stella McCartney have fashioned a more wearable take on the iridescent trend. The much coveted PS11 satchel has been upgraded this season with a beautiful metallic finish as pictured above on Krystal of What Is Reality Anyway. Metallic sliver iridescent things can easily scream TACKY but worn as a bag gives the right amount of sartorial edge to a simple, paired back outfit. It's a bit of fun and I love the fact that iridescent bags look different in every light. Head to H&M and & Other Stories for on point purse-friendly iridescent offerings. Helen Glory picked up an amazing clutch from & Other Stories which is no longer available online (sob sob).

that girl

Dazed and Confused, April 2005, Kim Noorda, Ph. Mariano Vivanco

Crushin' over old school Noorda. Okay black lace isn't in for S/S 2013 but its got a 'on trend' nineties vibe so lets just roll with it. Can't actually get over how fierce Kim looks in image 5, I'd quite like this picture to be framed and hung on my bedroom wall. Mieow.

backstage beauty: viktor & rolf fall 2013

Angelic hair braids aren't exactly new. But it's a hairstyle which is eternally pretty. I always envy girls who wear them. Also, it's actually one of my life aims to perfect a fishtail plait (I aim high I know). The soft, unkempt version at Viktor and Rolf was paired beautifully with barely-there-makeup and a hint of blusher. Positively whimsical.

highstreet gem #3: oyster card holder

I don't know why but I have a slight obsession with Oyster Card/Bus pass holders. It might not bother the majority of transport users but I'm always on the hunt for a new stylish holder. These neon Topshop ones are really fun, and their bright colour is handy when clambering through your bag to find it.

highstreet gem #2: & other stories

As soon as the & Other Stories website launched on Friday, I have been skimming the website taking in the concept of the new label. Scandinavian minimalism is in play but in a less restricted manner than its sister Cos. A playful, edgy take on classic wardrobe essentials. The website is a visual delight; I love the fact that items are photographed on models, it's that attention to detail which makes it a hugely satisfying experience for the visitor. I have yet to visit the London store, but I am thoroughly excited to do so.
For me, the highlight of & Other Stories lies with their accessories. The comprehensive catalogue of bags, shoes, jewellery, sunglasses and hair accessories is impressive. I'm itching to get my hand on the Ribcage ring, and am truly mesmerised by the Ocean printed shopper.
Wishlist created, financial investors would be much appreciated.

kenzo fall 2013 rtw

Kenzo knows how to do print well. The third eye print was integrated into both small and large scale prints where the attention to detail was impeccable. The eye print sweatshirts will be a sure hit for Kenzo as iconic logos have been the making of this brand. The use of gold and jacquard added an air of oriental lux, while the curved shoulders and boxy cuts and kept it looking modern. All in all, a very fun and wearable collection, I can't wait to see how it will be worn on street-style blogs.

sportmax fall 2013 rtw

Sharp silhouettes, block colours, and amoured textures amounted to a seriously punchy Sportmax collection. The Sportmax woman clearly means business. The fuzzy jumpers, across the body bags and A-line skirts with slits kept the collection fresh and relevant.
